Things I've Learned
2006
  1. My life has been a series of footnotes.
  2. I have never encountered a scenario that has called for a wink.
  3. I find the half-tooth half-gum smile to be one of the most unattractive traits.
    (see inset)
  4. I look forward much more to the summer blockbuster season than the Oscar season.
  5. I have officially started calling College Students: “College Kids”
  6. This year was the first time I used the word “equity” seriously.
  7. Seek out and understand the rules…then just do what you want. Even if it’s considered “wrong” it’s the only way to be happy.
  8. World of Warcraft isn’t as nearly addicting as I was lead to believe.
  9. There are far more questions than answers, perhaps this is why religion has caught on.
  10. I don’t think humans are the smartest on the planet; we’ve just got opposable thumbs.
  11. In reality survivor type game shows, the person who says “I’m not here to make friends” or “It’s just a game, and I’m in it to win it” is invariably not going to win.
  12. Civility and virtuosity are learned traits, as are prejudices and hardships. Those that look at children as pure should really just look at them as blank slates or undomesticated pets, yet to experience the best and worst of humanity.
  13. Muffin Tops and Tramp Stamps. It’s all I see anymore.
  14. I need to stop thinking of beer or wine; there are other drinks out there.
  15. For most people, exercise is a matter of recreation and vanity.
  16. No, it wouldn’t help if you told me you’re glad you cheated on me, why would you even ask that?
  17. Grease and Scarface, two movies that will constantly be re-released.
  18. Why hasn’t the PSP given up yet? The DS squatted on its nuts at least one full calendar year ago.
  19. Urgent person to person communiqué to Ben Stiller: Stop…please. I’d say you’re hurting your career more than me…but I think its pretty close.
  20. I’ve taken up the goal of finding the most obnoxious ring tone. Currently, I have Highway to the Danger Zone greeting me (and everyone within earshot) on every incoming call.
  21. Comic books are a legitimate form of expression, edging out most of what contemporary culture considers art.
  22. Helping others isn't part of the American Dream. Just thought someone should point that out.
  23. I'm still struggling with understanding the effectiveness with advertising HD TVs on regular TV.
  24. Those that view Christmas as a religious holiday should also view Disney World as a holy land.
